Rev. Jesse Larson led today’s service, which marked the third Sunday in Advent. The Advent wreath—featuring the candle of joy—was lit and everyone enjoyed seeing the display of crèches (manger scenes) brought by members and friends.
The scripture reading was Luke 1:5-25, concerning God's call for Zechariah and Elizabeth, the parents of John the Baptist. The choir, directed by Barbara Greene, sang “O Holy Night” featuring a solo by Sylvia Alamillo. Guest singer/guitarist KC Shane presented two musical pieces: “Let There Be Peace on Earth” and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.”
Pianist Natalya Guerrero presented several arrangements and, with guitarist Manh Ong, accompanied the choir and congregation. Hymns included:
Angels We Have Heard on High
Lo, How a Rose E’er Blooming
While We Are Waiting, Come
Comfort, Comfort Now My People
