Hold Fast to Faith

June 4, 2021

Friends in Faith,

Currently, a team of Bethany volunteers is delivering summer care packages to each of our members. If you haven't already received yours, you can expect it in the next few days. We hope it will provide some joy in the midst of our roller coaster lives!

Speaking of which, I need to share that Dr. May Tucker, our beloved Director of Music Ministries, has resigned from her duties; her last Sunday playing will be on June 27th. She has been managing a host of health issues, and they are causing her more and more difficulty. So, with a heavy heart, she has decided to end this chapter of her journey. Fortunately, she'll be remaining a member at Bethany. We can all enjoy her vibrant spirit, even though she'll no longer be sharing her musical gifts with us. We will be celebrating her ministry with us on Sunday, June 27 during worship and fellowship hour. Please join us in sharing our gratitude for May, and our well-wishes for the next part of her journey.

We hope you'll join us for worship this Sunday, June 6th. We are celebrating the Lord's Supper together. We'll have individually packaged servings of bread and juice available at our service, and for those folks worshiping virtually, please have some bread and juice on hand at home. Our text will be from Matthew 25:31-46. Gathering music begins at 10:20 a.m. in Bethany's Social Hall. We also have a "kiddie corral,” so please bring your children; all are always welcome! There are several options on how to share in worship with us:

  • In-person, in our Social Hall.

  • In-person, from your car. We broadcast our service via radio channel 94.9.

  • From your home, on Facebook Live (hint, if you miss the actual service, you can watch it on replay).

And here's what's coming up...

  • Join us for the CROP Walk TOMORROW MORNING to raise funds for hunger relief locally, nationally, and internationally. We are meeting at 8 a.m. on Saturday, June 5th at River Bend Park for our 3 mile walk. Please RSVP with Cathy Sapunor so she knows who all is coming. Details are here.

  • Our celebration and reception for Dr. May Tucker is on Sunday, June 27.

  • The "Ladies Camping Trip" is back and scheduled for July 9-11. Here are the details.

  • Pastor Jesse's installation service is on Sunday, July 11 at 3 p.m.

  • The all-church "Friends and Family Retreat" is on August 13-15. Rooms book-up quickly for this special event so get your reservation in soon. Here are the costs and other details.

Jessie Carter's finally tally for funds raised for SSIP was over $7,800! A huge thank you to Jessie for your efforts on behalf of the good work of SSIP!

Please note that we still enjoy checking in with one another via Zoom on Wednesday mornings at 11 a.m. Join us here!

The church office will be closed June 8-10.

Please don't hesitate to reach out to me—give me a call or send me an e-mail. We can chat or set a time to meet face-to-face.

As we continue to face the highs and lows of each week, as all generations have done before us, let us hold fast to our faith and remember that we are in this together as a community of faith. If you have prayers that you would like to share with our community, please contact me or Office Manager Maria Mar.. Also, be sure to indicate if you'd like your prayer to be shared, or if you'd like it to be held in confidentiality.

May we trust that God hears all of our prayers, and in Christ, we find healing, wholeness, and new beginnings. No matter what comes our way, all roads lead to Jesus—thanks be to God!

Blessings to all,
Jesse
