Bethany Elder Jim Guida led Bethany’s 2024 Christmas Eve service, assisted by liturgists/Advent candle-lighters Elder Joy Baird, Rev. Judy Davis, Elder Kathy Frank and Elder Jackie Sneed.
Musical presentations were by Peter Baird, Lily Baird Young, Marilee Keene and Trisha Uhrhammer.
Musicians included Peter Baird (guitar), Tavifa Isgandarov (piano), Manh Ong (guitar) and Sherry McHurd Hanson (viola).
A special feature of the Children's Moment, presented by Jim Guida, was made possible by Tom Uhrhammer chiming the long-silent church steeple bell— coming back to life after at least a decade of unuse.
At the end of the service participants exited with lit candles outdoors, then gathering to ring bells for two minutes in keeping with a tradition started worldwide in 2000. Bells are rung throughout the world at 6 p.m. (local time) to remind people that despite pandemics, war and other circumstances, they are not alone. This year, Bethany's bells also rang out for peace and justice.
