Rev. Janice Kamikawa led today’s service, which observed World Communion Sunday—a time to celebrate solidarity with Christians around the world. The title of her message was “God Who Sees and Listens to the Voices of the Suffering.” The scripture reading was Genesis 16: 1-16.
Communion was served and a collection of non-perishable goods for the SSIP Food Closet was taken. Assisting with the serving of communion were Jim Davis and Tom Uhrhammer.
Hymns, accompanied by Barbara Greene (piano), Sherry McHurd Hanson (viola) and Manh Ong (guitar) included:
We Are God’s People
In Christ There Is No East or West
For Everyone Born, A Seat at the Table
In honor of World Communion Sunday, the worship table was decorated with items brought by church members and friends as souvenirs from their travels or items from their family’s cultural heritage.
PREACHING NEXT SUNDAY will be Jim Guida.
Preaching October 20 & 27 is Steve Hong.
Preaching November 3 is Amanda Anderson.
