Wake Up On Time Sunday Morning … and Take Up the Cross!

Friends in Faith,

Daylight savings time begins this Saturday night! Set your clocks one hour ahead ("spring ahead!") so that you don't miss worship on Sunday morning!

This coming Sunday—March 14—we will be reflecting on what it means to take up our cross and follow Jesus (Luke 9:21-27). You can access all of our online opportunities here; we'll hope you'll join us for worship, our conversations, and that you'll bring some friends! The question we'll be discussing in Zoom worship is, "What does 'taking up your cross' mean to you?"

As Lent continues, you can click here to access the PCUSA's 2021 Lenten devotionals for each day of Lent.

The SSIP Food Closet's virtual gala/fundraiser, Full Plates, Full Hearts, is this evening—March 11 at 6:30 p.m.! SSIP's clients have nearly doubled since the pandemic began nearly a year ago, so we are praying that their fundraiser will be a great success. Click here for details and to join the gala Zoom. If you can’t make it, you can still help fill a plate. You can text a donation to 243725 and put FPFH in the message field—you’ll get a link to the donation page. Or you can click here to donate online (put FPFH in the memo line). Or send a check with FPFH marked on it to: 5625 24th Street, Sacramento, CA 95822. There are over 100 items to bid on (and bidding is now open), including original art, wine, gift certificates, music and watercolor lessons, and much more. The auction will close the evening after Full Plates, Full Hearts has concluded (on March 12).

For those interested in our Zoom conversations concerning Ibrahim X. Kendi's book How to Be an Antiracist, our final two Zoom sessions are on March 17 and March 31 (both Wednesdays at 7 p.m.). You can click here to learn more about this opportunity.

If you have news for our church family that you would like to share, please reach out to me a joy or a concern, please be sure to tell us if the information is confidential or not; we never want to inadvertently share anything that wasn't supposed to be shared.

Our prayers are with members, friends, and loved ones who are struggling with health concerns, loss, and grief.

Loving God, hear our prayers for healing, care, and hope for all in the midst of anguish and troubles. We give you thanks for our many blessings and joys in our lives, trusting that you hold all of us and all of creation in your hands.

God's peace to you all,
Jesse
