Listening and Serving In Love

Friends in Faith,

As Lent continues, this Sunday we'll be exploring the story of Mary, Martha, and Jesus found in Luke 10:38-42. Please note that we'll also be celebrating the Lord's Supper together in both our Facebook Live service and in our Zoom service; be sure to have some juice/wine and bread on hand. You can access all of our online opportunities on our web site; we hope you'll join us for worship and Zoom our conversations, and that you'll bring some friends!

“Entering Into Courageous Conversations” is the topic of a news article written by Rev. Janice Kamikawa and Rev. Judy Davis about Bethany’s ongoing discussion of Ibrahim X. Kendi's acclaimed book How to Be an Antiracist. The series is wrapping up this month, with sessions today (March 3), March 17 and March 31 (all Wednesdays at 7 p.m.) You can click here to learn more about this opportunity. We have found this time to be very meaningful and we'd like to encourage everyone to attend.  Click here to read the news article.

The SSIP Food Closet is hosting a virtual gala/fundraiser—Full Plates, Full Heart—on March 11 at 6:30 p.m. for an hour that we hope will nourish your soul. Click here to join the gala Zoom.  If you can’t make it, you can still help fill a plate.  You can text a donation to 243725 and put FPFH in the message field—you’ll get a link to our donation page. Or you can click here to donate online (put FPFH in the memo line). Or send a check with FPFH marked on it to: 5625 24th Street, Sacramento, CA 95822. We will recognize your contributions on March 11! Please be sure to join SSIP early for bidding at the silent auction starting March 7. There are over 100 exciting items, including original art, wine, gift certificates, music and watercolor lessons, and much more. The auction will close on March 12, the evening after Full Plates, Full Heart.

You can now access the PCUSA's 2021 Lenten devotional for each day of Lent. And a big thank-you to Parish Associate Rev. Judy Davis for leading worship this past Sunday, a big thank-you to Dr. May Tucker for her musical contributions and to Cathy Sapunor for her amazing video editing skills.

If you have news for our church family that you would like to share, please reach out to me or Office Manager Maria Mar and let us know. Also, whenever you share a joy or a concern, please be sure to tell us if the information is confidential or not; we never want to inadvertently share anything that wasn't supposed to be shared.

Our prayers are with members, friends, and loved ones who are struggling with health concerns, loss, and grief.

Loving God, hear our prayers for healing, care, and hope for all in the midst of anguish and troubles.

God's peace to you all,
Jesse Larson
