Reformation Day Celebrated Scottish-Style at Bethany October 27

On Oct. 27, 2024, Bethany observed Reformation Sunday, a time to celebrate the origins of the Presbyterian Church. Rev. Steve Hong’s sermon talked about “the church ever reforming” and the worship service ended with a recorded bagpipe rendition of “Amazing Grace.” The congregation wore tartan rosettes in honor of the church’s Scottish beginnings. Scottish shortbread (using the traditional recipe of Bethany member and native Glaswegian Myra Cowan) and scones were served following the service. Thank you to those who baked Scottish goodies and brought special items to decorate the worship and refreshment tables … and to those who gathered to hand-craft the tartan rosettes the week prior to the service.
