Bethany’s Hot Cocoa Ministry returned in 2021, this year serving the 40 volunteers staffing the SSIP Food Closet’s Thanksgiving grocery give-away day on Saturday, November 20. Several Bethany members and friends gathered the day before in the church. kitchen to prepare home-baked goodies. Five more joined the team Saturday morning to make coffee and serve the Food Closet volunteers.
Cars of Food Closet clients were lined up for about a quarter-mile … so the volunteers were grateful for hot beverages and delicious treats we provided. Many thanks to those who helped in person and behind the scenes, including Sammi Fernandez who donated many of the baking supplies.
Loretta Fransham, SSIP Food Closet Board Chairperson said, “Please pass on our thanks to the ladies that made all of the goodies for the volunteers working today for the Thanksgiving event. It was greatly appreciated by all of us … especially the fact that all goodies were home-made! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your congregation.”
