What Bethany's New Administrative Commission Expects to Fulfill

From AC Secretary Maurine Huang comes a reminder of the “charge” set by the Northern Central California Presbytery (NCCP) for Bethany’s new Administrative Commission (AC).

The AC will continue to work with the members of the Bethany Steering Committee on the following:

  • Assist the church in their desire to continue as a chartered church under a small-church model; this would require:

1.     Complete a 2025 budget by no later than April 30, 2025

2.     NCCP Trustees conduct financial review

3.     Hire a professional to conduct a forensic audit

4.     Stated Clerk conduct review of minutes

5.     Simplify leadership structure

6.     Develop new bylaws and bring to the congregation for approval by June 30, 2025

7.     Establish small church operating procedures

8.     Continue conversation regarding the property with the goal of transferring title and management of the property to the Presbytery of North Central California as recommended by the 2nd AC

  • Determine the future of the relationship with SSIP;

  • Continue to advise the Vitality in Ministry Commission on the vitality and viability of the congregation;

  • If the AC and Vitality in Ministry determine being a chartered church is not viable, determine options (such as becoming a fellowship under the aegis of a chartered church, or church closure) and assist the church in carrying out the appropriate option

  • Other actions as needed to comply with Book of Order requirements.
