Rev. Jesse Larson led today’s service, his final Sunday at Bethany. Scripture readings included Micah 6:8 and 1 John 4:7-12 — both passages describing how God desires us to live in love, justice and harmony.
Hymns, accompanied by Natalya Guerrero (piano) and Manh Van Ong (guitar) included:
Gather Us In
Send Me, Jesus (Thuma Mina)
The Summons
The Bethany Choir presented the anthem “It Is Well With My Soul,” accompanied by Natalya Guerrero on piano, Manh Van Ong on guitar and Sherry Hanson on viola. The quartet of Peter Baird, Liliy Baird Young, Marilee Keene and Trisha Uhrhammer presented a special version of “Time to Say Good-Bye.”
The congregation gathered to “lay hands” on Rev. Jesse and extend blessings for his next pastoral call, which is yet to be determined.
Immediately following the service, a special congregational meeting was held to dissolve Rev. Jesse’s pastoral call to Bethany, a position he held since March 2020. A thank-you reception with gifts, cards and cake then took place in the Social Hall.
