Rev. Jesse Larson led today’s service, which observed the third Sunday in Lent. Today’s scripture passages included Psalm 19:1-14 and John 2:13-22. John shares the story of Jesus overturning the tables of the money changers in the temple. It is an intense but powerful text about the nature of God and worship.
Communion was served and a collection of non-perishable goods for the SSIP Food Closet was taken.
The Bethany choir, featuring Sylvia Alamillo as soloist, performed the moving anthem “Via Dolorosa” (“Sorrowful Way”) about the path in Jerusalem that is considered to have been walked by Jesus on his way to the cross. Click here for details about the Via Dolorosa.
