Today’s service—centering on Black History Month—was led by Rev. Jesse Larson. Elder Jackie Sneed served as liturgist, reading the story of Moses encountering the burning bush (Exodus 3:1-17). The communion table was decorated with African fabric and keepsakes collected by Rev. Larson in his days working as a volunteer in Ghana.
The song team comprised of Peter Baird, Joy Bonds Baird, Jackie Sneed, Trisha Uhrhammer and Marilee Keene joined pianist Natalya Amelchenko in leading the hymns:
Guide My Feet
When Israel was in Egypt's Land (Let My People Go)
Somebody’s Knocking At Your Door
Lift Every Voice and Sing
