Robert Burns Birthday Event • January 20, 2024

Bethany Presbyterian Church was the site of a community gathering held January 20 to celebrate the great Scots poet Robert Burns. The R0bert Burns birthday event was presented by Kilwinning Lodge #203, the Sacramento branch of the national Daughters of Scotia organization whose membership is comprised of women whose ancestry is Scottish. This marked the 88th year that Kilwinning has sponsored the Robert Burns birthday event.

More than 80 people enjoyed Scottish scones and shortbread (and other goodies, including finger sandwiches) while hearing some of the poetry and songs of the late great Robert “Rabbie” Burns.

A sampling of the Scottish delicacy haggis was served after the traditional processional and recitation of Burns’ famous tribute poem.
