Friends in Faith,
We find ourselves in the midst of Holy Week, and like every other week, it moves right along. Too fast, I think. I hope that you find some time to read through the gospel accounts of the passion story of Jesus Christ. I also hope you have time to pray, to reflect, to mourn, to cry, to dream, and to be renewed by the promise of resurrection and the power of love. Jacqueline Sneed passed along this helpful link regarding approaches towards prayer; several of us have found it to be very meaningful. And I hope you will join us for our two services this week—tomorrow's Maundy Thursday Zoom service and Sunday morning's Easter service.
Tomorrow, April 1st, is Maundy Thursday, and we will be worshiping together via Zoom at 7 p.m. Our service will include communion, so please be sure to have your bread and juice ready. Also, part of our service will feature candles, so if you have a few candles (ideally 4), you can use them as we experience a service of Tenebrae ("shadows") together. Click here for details about the service and logging onto Zoom.
We all are looking forward to celebrating Easter together with an outdoor service in our south parking lot. We will set up for social distancing and masks are required. If you prefer to stay in your car, we will have parking for you as well. Or if you prefer to stay home, we will also be striving to offer the service via Facebook Live, too. (It will also be posted on the website that night.)We will also set up a “kiddie corral” as a safe place on the lawn so you can enjoy the service and still keep an eye on your little ones. (If you would like to come early and help with set-up, we can certainly use your assistance starting 9 a.m.) Easter music will begin at 10:20 a.m., with the service commencing at 10:30 a.m. Click here for all of the info.
Finally, if you have news for our church family that you would like to share, please reach out to myself or Office Manager Maria Mar and let us know. Also, whenever you share a joy or a concern, please be sure to tell us if the information is confidential or not; we never want to inadvertently share anything that wasn't supposed to be shared.
Our prayers are with a few members, friends, and loved ones who are struggling with health concerns, loss, and grief:
Loving God, hear our prayers for healing, care, and hope for all in the midst of anguish and troubles. We give you thanks for our many blessings and joys in our lives, trusting that you hold all of us and all of creation in your hands.
Blessings for Holy Week,
Jesse
