April 5 Easter Service Was Inspiring

Bethany’s April 5 Easter Sunday service was uplifting and joyous—and experienced by more than 50 people in the sanctuary (plus more viewing online). The multi-generational congregation was led in worship by Elder Jim Guida, with Kathy Frank serving as liturgist.

Jim presented two messages: a sermon titled “Surprise!” as well as a special children’s message titled “He Arose” (after which he gave each child a live rose to keep and additional roses for them to present to all those in attendance).

During the first hymn, all of the children scrambled to find Easter eggs that had been hidden in the choir loft.

Communion was officiated by Elder Cathy Sapunor and the monthly collection of canned and packaged goods for the SSIP Food Closet was increased in response to a challenge issued to the congregation to double their regular giving.

Musicians included Barbara Greene and Manh Ong. The choir sang the anthem “He Lives.”

The festivities continued with a delicious brunch served in the Social Hall after the service.

Many thanks to those who brought food, decorated the sanctuary, donated candy, plastic eggs and Easter baskets; and stuffed and hid the Easter eggs! Special thanks to Sammi Fernandez for providing the bulk of the Easter eggs and candy. And join us in thanking Wendy Aiello for again purchasing the beautiful Easter lilies which graced our sanctuary and were then taken to the homes of shut-ins.
