We were pleased to again welcome Jim Guida to the pulpit yesterday. Rev. Janice Kamikawa will preach next Sunday, the second Sunday in the season of Lent.


TODAY, Feb. 23—Join in a spirited discussion series on the challenges and rewards of getting older. This 5-part series—“God Isn’t Finished With Me Yet”—will help us discover the graces of later life.

Today’s gathering will take place at Venus Taproom, 1188-35th Avenue (off South Land Park Drive, about two miles west of Bethany). The discussion starts promptly at 10 a.m.; come at 9:30 a.m. if you plan to order snacks/beverages at the counter. The series is led by Cathy Sapunor. Today’s topic: Caregiving & Loss.


ALSO TODAY (Feb. 23)—Bethany family and friends are invited to see the new Kingdom Story production “I Can Only Imagine 2.” This inspiring film starts at 2:15 p.m. at the Cinemark Century Laguna Theater, 9349 Big Horn Blvd., Elk Grove. ALSO HAPPENING THIS WEDNESDAY, FEB. 25—Come to the annual Winter Wander Nature Walk at the Cosumnes River Preserve, complete with tailgate party! The walk is wheelchair- and walker-friendly. Or ... instead of walking you can simply sit and enjoy the beautiful scenery and snacks! THIS COMING THURSDAY, Feb. 26—Show your love for all of God's children by attending the next multi-faith prayer vigil held downtown at the John Moss Federal Building, 650 Capitol Mall.This is another in a series of ongoing events presented by Sacramento Area Congregations Together. Saturday, Feb. 28, 1-2:30 p.m.—REACHING OUT MINISTRY held at Bethany to benefit those in need in our community. Contact Susan Just if you would like to help … you are also invited to stop by to see what this mission activity is all about. About 100 people are expected to attend. The purpose is to build community and provide free items such as clothing, toiletries, basic essential needs items, books and pet foods. Lunch is provided. Everything is free. This is not a focused homeless outreach; however, several unhomed folks do attend. Reaching Out is held in partnership with Faith Presbyterian Church.


NEXT MONDAY, March 2—Bethany’s “Monday Group” holds its third session based on Richard Rohr’s book “Wondrous Encounters.” The group, led by Jackie Sneed, will meet at 10 a.m. All are invited to attend.
