Bethany’s 111th anniversary was celebrated September 21 with an uplifting worship service led by Rev. Elias Burgos and a luncheon reception afterward. Jim Guida’s flaming-hot “children’s message” left the kids—and everyone present—with an inspired new interpretation of Jesus as ”light of the world.”
Under the direction of Barbara Greene, the choir sang the lovely anthem “Grace Alone,” with Barbara affirming that Bethany would not have come this far without the grace of God.
Everyone enjoyed viewing the display of members’ church memorabilia as well as eating the delicious tiramisu cake presented to Bethany by its sister congregation, Grace Community Church.
Many thanks to everyone for helping make this day possible, particularly Kathy Frank for organizing the lunch. Mark Strack for setting up, to those who brought food, and all who came early to prepare and stayed late to clean up!
