What's Happening

We extend thanks to Rev. Stephen Smith for serving as yesterday’s guest pastor. His sermon was entitled “Life Together.” Tom Uhrhammer served as liturgist and musicians included Barbara Greene and Manh Ong. We were excited to welcome our former director of music ministries Dr. May Tuan Tucker to the service!

Join us as Rev. Elias Burgos preaches Sunday, March 2. Communion will be served and our monthly collection of canned and packaged goods for the SSIP Food Closet will be taken.

Motre than a dozen Bethany members and friends saw the movie "Paddington in Peru" on Tuesday, Feb. 18. Among the films coming up are "Snow White" and "The Karate Kid: Legends." Watch for announcements!

Would you like to serve as "a face of Bethany" by helping at a funeral held by Evergreen Mortuary in our sanctuary? Evergreen—located a few blocks east of Bethany—occasionally rents Bethany's sanctuary when it has a group requiring more space than its own chapel can accommodate. Some of the grieving families and guests are not regular church-goers, so being at a church may be a new experience. We can show Christian goodwill and kindness by welcoming them with open arms.

One or two Bethany people are invited to assist with set-up and greeting people at these services. Let Cathy Sapunor or Debbie Leibrock know if you are interested. The time frame is usually 8:30 a.m.-12 noon. The next scheduled funeral is this coming Friday—February 28.

Presbyterian Women invite all to attend the next in a series of classes this coming Thursday in the church library. Come at 9:30 a.m. for goodies and coffee; the class is 10-11:30 a.m.

Grace Community Church invites us to enjoy pho [pronounced "pfah"] at its annual soup luncheon on Sunday, March 2. The lunch will start around 2:30-3 p.m. following the 1 p.m. worship service—to which all are invited to attend. While this is a fundraiser for the church, Bethany folks are invited to attend as guests!

Several Bethany members attended the annual Chinese New Year festival in the historic Delta Town of Locke on Saturday, Feb. 22. Watch for more cultural opportunities you might want to attend with your Bethany family!

The popular "Monday Group"—held first and third Monday mornings—has been taking a break. It will return in March, just in time for Lent. And in observance of Lent, the focus will be on Jesus and his times. More details are coming, but for now please mark these "Monday Group" gathering dates on your calendar: Monday, March 17, Tuesday, April 7 and Tuesday, April 21.

Thursday, February 27—"Fruits of the Spirit: Faithfulness" class in church library; 10-11:30 a.m. Come at 9:30 for refreshments.
Friday, February 28—memorial ministry at Bethany. Let Cathy Sapunor or Debbie Leibrock know if you are interested in helping with set-up or as a. greeter. The time frame is 8:30 a.m.-12 noon.

Monday, March 17—"Monday Group" resumes at 10 a.m.
Sunday, March 30—family sing-along concert at Bethany organized by Peter Baird. More info to come!
Monday, March 31—Bethany Food Closet volunteer morning. We need two more volunteers to help today, 8:30-11:45 a.m. Can you assist? No experience needed. E-mail Cathy Sapunor if you would like to participate or have questions. Already signed up: Kathy Kingsbury, Manh Ong and Tom Uhrhammer!

PLEASE PRAY FOR members and friends of our extended Bethany family, as well as those of our community, who are experiencing health and financial challenges, loss, loneliness, anxiety and depression. We pray for guidance as we continue to focus on plans for Bethany's future. Please pray for the leaders of all nations, that they may choose peaceful resolutions to conflict.
