Stemming Anti-Asian Violence in the Wake of COVID-19

VIOLENCE AGAINST ASIAN AMERICANS has risen dramatically, as Rev. Jesse pointed out in recent Pastor’s Messages and sermons. An online learning tool has been developed—COVID at the Margins: Anti-Asian Racism in the wake of COVID-19—by various groups within the Presbyterian Church (USA). In this interesting video, the Presbyterian Committee on the Self-Development of People and the Office of Racial and Intercultural Justice talk with Rev. Laura Cheifetz of Vanderbilt Divinity School about what’s occurring and what we can do about it. Bethany attendee Rev. Janice Kamikawa has been participating as a member of the team preparing this and other important resources. Janice has also been elected to serve on a Presbyterian Church task force that will assess diversity in Presbyterian ministry. Read about it here.
