Sunday Service - August 23, 2020

Rev. Jesse Larson opens today’s online service with a prayer asking God to help quell our anxious hearts during these troubled times of wildfires, disease, conflicts and other concerns.

He relates how we are familiar with certain themes in the bible: love and grace, forgiveness and faithfulness. And yet conflict is also a common theme. Rev. Jesse says that conflict is not usually borne out of malice, but of a difference of opinions. He asks, "How do we hold one another in the light amidst the discomfort and then move forward after the turbulence?"

Today’s scripture reading is 1 John 4: 7-12, in which we are reminded about the power of God’s love.

Pianist Natalya Amelchenko plays numerous sacred pieces at the service, including:

  • God of the Sparrow

  • Great Is Thy Faithfulness
