Reformation Sunday • Oct. 30, 2022
On Oct. 30, 2022, Bethany observed Reformation Sunday, a time to celebrate the origins of the Presbyterian Church. Guest musician Neil Henderson played bagpipes during the worship service. As the service took place the day prior to Halloween, some “tricks” were played … such as having a tartan pumpkin and Rev. Jesse donning a tam o’shanter atop a Scots ginger (red) wig. (Did you know that 10% of the Scottish population has red hair?!) Some of the congregation wore plaid or tartan in honor of the church’s Scottish beginnings. Others pinned on hand-crafted Scottish rosettes made by a church volunteer. Scottish shortbread and scones were served following the service. Thank you to those who baked Scottish goodies and brought special items to decorate the worship and refreshment tables! (See if you can spot “Nessie” (the Loch Ness Monster) on the refreshment table!)
