Come to Bethany the morning of Monday, September 11, for a viewing of the acclaimed film The Way starring Martin Sheen. Arrive at 10 a.m. to hear from Bethany folks who have actually walked “The Way”—the pilgrimmage route known as the Camino de Santiago. We’ll view the movie and follow it up with free lunch and more chat with walkers.
The Way, originally released over a decade ago, tells the story of a father whose son has died while traveling in Europe. Upon arriving to collect his son's remains, the dad learns that his son was hiking the Camino de Santiago and he decides to complete the journey for his son. The result, says Wired magazine, " is an introspective and emotional journey that touches both the heart and the funny bone and is definitely worth checking out.”
The film is loosely based on the popular book by Jack Hitt, Off The Road: A Modern Day Walk Down the Pilgrim's Route Into Spain.
