Loss can take many shapes in our lives; the loss of a significant relationship, the loss of our sense of purpose, the loss of employment, perhaps the loss of our health or that of a loved one, and even the loss of an aspiration or dream. The COVID-19 pandemic has greatly contributed to the sense of loss many are experiencing.
If you or someone you know is finding Christmas to be a difficult time, Bethany invites you to a special evening Wednesday, December 8.
A free soup supper will be served at 5 p.m. in the church Social Hall, followed by a brief “Blue Christmas” service at 6 p.m. in the sanctuary. The service will be led by Rev. Jesse Larson and Rev. Janice Kamikawa.
Many people feel out of step this time of year as others are celebrating and gathering with family and friends. Sometimes we just need space and the time to acknowledge our grief and apprehension and it is good to know that we are not alone in the experience of our sadness during the holiday season. Together, we can use our mutual sorrow as a path to rejoice this Christmas. Together we can acknowledge that it is okay to feel sad during the holidays.
Please accept this invitation to be with us and to experience the hope and joy of God’s light that shines ever so bright even in the depths of our darkest night.
Those attending in person are to wear their masks and observe Bethany’s “in person gathering” safety guidelines.
