Dear Friends in Faith—

This Sunday, January 28, we’ll spend some time thinking about aging and the chapters of our lives. Interestingly, this past week's text and this week’s text concern widows. Time races along and we all seem to have more gray hairs and new pains each time we blink! What does our faith have to say about aging? What are the opportunities we have as an older church family? As Mary Harbison often declared, "I'm still here so God must still have a purpose for me."  Our texts are Psalm 71:1-9; 14-19 & Luke 21:1-4.

Natalya begins playing our “gathering music” at 10:20 a.m. You can also join virtually here: Facebook Live. More details about worship can be found here.

We are still seeking 3 volunteers to help at the SSIP Food Closet on Monday, January 29.  The shift is from 8:30am - 11:30am, but we recommend you arrive by about 8am as parking can be tight. If you are interested in serving, please contact Cathy Sapunor. You can read more about this opportunity here.

Mary Harbison's memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 27 at 2 p.m.  A reception will follow in the Social Hall.

On Saturday, February 3, is our "Winter Wander Nature Walk" at the Cosumnes River Preserve at 9 a.m. until about 11 a.m. Details are here.

On Sunday, February 4, all are invited to join GKI Indonesian Presbyterian Fellowship for worship at 4:30 p.m. I will be leading the service. The service will be held at Celtic Cross Presbyterian Church (5839 Dewey Dr, Citrus Heights, CA 95621) and followed by a time of fellowship. Let me know if you are interested in attending!

On Monday, February 5, our Spiritual Formation group will be screening part 2 of the film, "Silence" - and enjoy discussions led by Rev. Judy Davis. Our time together begins at 10am and concludes with a free lunch. All are warmly invited to join us

Our Session continues to meet, make decisions and plan. Click here for the latest update.

It’s the season for lots of nasty colds, flus, and viruses! Several of our members and friends have already encountered illness over the past several weeks, and we are now reading that infection rates are up across the country. Because of the age of our worshiping community, we are particularly vulnerable, so this is a reminder to stay home when you aren't feeling well. And it's always wise to mask up to protect yourself and others.

As a church family, we are a community that is committed to caring for one another. One of the ways that we can support one another, loved ones and strangers, near and far, is to offer our prayers on their behalf. We share our prayers because we care for one another, and we know that God listens and cares for all of God's children. If you have a joy or concern to share, please let me know; and if it is a confidential matter, please be sure to let them know. And don't forget that we have a prayer team who is committed to praying for any and all prayer concerns that come forward. You can reach out to Barbara Greene with your prayer concerns and she'll share them with the prayer team.

Prayers for peace in Gaza and throughout the Middle East and in Ukraine and all parts of this big world experience conflict and bloodshed.

Hear our prayers, O Lord!

 Peace to all.
