Following up on Bethany’s 2023 retreat topic “Jerusalem: A Holy Paradox,” here are two local opportunities to learn more about conditions in the Middle East.
A member of Sacramento Japanese United Methodist Church has returned from a Holy Land Pilgrimage with the Friends of Wadi Foquin tour group. Wadi Foquin is a village consisting of about 1,300 people, located approx. five miles southwest of Bethlehem in the occupied West Bank. All are invited to see her slide show presentation 11:30 a.m. Sunday, August 20 at SJUMC, 6929 Franklin Blvd. You can also view the presentation live-streamed starting 11:30 a.m. on YouTube.
Then, on Thursday, August 24, at 12:30 p.m., you can attend a different presentation at SJUMC. This presentation, which includes lunch, features 25-year-old Adam Manasra from Wadi Foquin, and is entitled Palestine Today: A Young Person’s Perspective. The event is sponsored by by the California-Nevada Methodist Conference Palestine Task Force and co-hosted by the SJUMC Mission and Social Concerns Committee.
