All Saints Day • November 7, 2021
Bethany observed All Saints Day at its November 7, 2021, worship service. Names of deceased loved ones—submitted by church members and friends—were read aloud accompanied by the chiming of a bell. Participants were invited to come forward to light candles in memory of those “saints” who have gone before. Following the service, Rev. Janice Kamikawa led the folding of origami cranes and crafting of “peace and remembrance lanterns” for people to take home. Displays of photos and memorabilia were presented by Bethany family and friends in the Social Hall on special memorial tables—including a special “St. Francis table” for deceased pets.
