Rev. Jesse Larson led today’s service, which marked the fourth Sunday in Advent. The Advent wreath—featuring the candle of love—was lit with Barbara Greene was reader. The scripture passage was Luke 1:39-56, when Mary and Elizabeth visit and John leaps in Elizabeth's womb when hearing the good news about Jesus. Mary then sings "The Magnificat"—her hope for a just world.
Special music was provided by saxaphonist John Doolittle and a vocal ensemble comprised of Marilee Keane, Trisha Uhrhammer, Peter Baird, and Rowena Frick.
Pianist Natalya Guerrero presented several musical arrangements and accompanied the singing of hymns:
O Come, O Come, Emmanuel
It Came Upon a Midnight Clear
In the Bleak Midwinter
While We Are Waiting, Come
O Little Town of Bethlehem
