“Blue Christmas” Service of Comfort • December 8, 2021 • Worship Table Decorations

Worship table decorations for Bethany’s December 8, 2021 “Blue Christmas” service centered on themes of love and remembrance. Candles were available for participants to light in honor or memory of loved ones. An unfinished painting—left uncompleted by the late Rev. Gail Cullerton due to her death—was featured alongside a child’s toy … a reminder of the spirit of childhood that lives within us still. Juniper—a symbol of hope and faith—is displayed. Also included is a clock, which reminds of the passing of time and how every moment is precious. Hearts—which evoke the feelings of love we have for those no longer in our lives—are on display. Finally, cloth in the color blue—traditionally associated with Mary, mother of Jesus—is seen; one is draped over the cross in a tribute to Mary, whose infant child would one day turn the world upside-down.
