Holy Humor Sunday • April 7, 2024
Bethany observed “Holy Humor Sunday” (also known as “Bright Sunday”) on the Sunday following Easter. The event continued a tradition embraced in both the ancient and contemporary Christian church. It’s a time to celebrate life and show our gladness about Jesus’ resurrection. Attendees at the April 7 worship service dressed informally and many wore silly hats—including a few tiaras! Rev. Jesse Larson—garbed in wacky hat and sunglasses—reminded everyone how humor can heal and inspire. Jokes and funny stories were told and Jim Guida “mustachioed” the children during his kids’ message. Refreshments served after the service included Good Humor ice cream bars and a dirt-and-worms pie!
